Lots of Thoughts and Seeking

As I have been meditating on a few scriptures this week for a new study and book I am working through.   They really hit me where I am at as I work on my homeschooling with the boys presently and work on next years focus.

 Monday's verse was:
Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who builds it;  Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchmen keeps awake in vain. Psalm 127:1

I realize just how much I have been trying to determine what I need to be teaching the boys based on books and recommendations.   Instead of going before God and asking what He wants me to focus on.  Sure I need to cover a certain amount of information but what to focus and emphasis is for the Lord to direct.   He knows my boys' hearts better than I do.    What do I think, that I know more than God?    Not that i do this intentionally (which on occasion, i am sure I do) but I just get so wrapped up in the hows and whats, I forget the most important part, these are God's boys he gave them to me but a short time and I need to ask Him what they need.

yesterday's & today's verses were:

John 15:4–5 (NASB95)
4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

Matthew 6:33 (NASB95)
33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you

Here and today's verse really showed me where I need to be Seeking and Abiding is the answer.   If I would seek the source of Life and the One who knows the beginning and the end would know what I need to focus on.    Not just for Homeschooling my precious boys but also for my life and where he wants to lead me too.

Yet another outing in McCall

I got some new shoes.    I am hoping they help with my knee issues, I have heard great things about them.  They feel weird right now.  Having to break my feet in with these ones.   Here is a link to them: Vibram Five Fingers KSO   I have a different color than the ones shown.

The Lake no longer had ice on it today when we went there.   I will post some new photos later.

Day 3ish of our time in McCall

I got up to swim laps this morning.   That was nice.   Might have to do that tomorrow too even though I also plan on running.    We went to the Pancake House and I had a one plate size pancake and at maybe half of it.   Their plates are much bigger than mine, I would say large skillet size would be a better description.     The boys are now playing outside with their new sling shots which every young boy should have.    John is reading his news on the Ipad on the balcony and I am getting ready to start preparations for the Persian Empire next week.   I already have the book of Esther we are going to stick figure through thanks to Grapevine Studies.   We had fun with the Resurrection one so figured this would be perfect as we are studying the Persian Empire in History.    now for a few photos of the Lake from our visit there yesterday.

Vacation Week

We are in McCall, ID at our Time Share right now.   I am sitting here with a very upset child not wanting to do his school work.    I hate this because I would rather him be playing too but he is behind.   There are a variety of reasons why, two big ones was that he hasn't been wanting to do the work to get through the material.   The second big one is that Mama let him get away with it for too long.   I take full responsibility on that aspect but it will be painful for all of us to get us back on track.   I don't expect him to do more than possible but just expect him to get through this stuff in a timely manner.    I don't even expect to get completely caught up, I am fine with that.   But the character of my son is of the upmost importance.   I am praying that we can get through this and he will see why this is important some day.    I know God has huge plans for this young man and it is my responsibility to be on my knees and training him everyday.

The Play Structure is DONE!!!

The boys are so excited.    We had to take a good recess this morning so they could play on it.   We would have done it earlier but the grass was watered this morning so everything was wet.    Here are a few photos of it from last night when John finished it.

There is also a small monkey bar attachment on the back side and ladder.    I can't seem to find all my photos so I will have to take more.  lol

Going Grocery Shopping

How I hate it when I get home and realize I didn't get important things on my list.    For the first time in awhile, Costco didn't have Red peppers and baby carrots.   Two main staples in our veggies that we eat.    Feeling a little frustrated since I ended up spending not a ton like you can at Costco but more than hoped.   Just some of those staples you only buy once every month or two or even three but it always throws my budget off.     On a brighter note, we got our Play structure delivered yesterday and John got a good start on it.   We will work on it more tonight and I will also be taking Sean to scouts since John will be busy with the 'playground' tonight.   I am glad the Academy will be done this week so I can start going to Weight Watchers Thurs mornings with the boys after this week.   Monday night just don't always happen.

We also went to the Circus last night.   It was fun.   I have a few not so great photos I took with my phone. Joel got to ride the elephant.   Of course, the photos won't download so I will have to see about getting them posted later.
